Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 2-1/4 cups organic unbleached white flour
  • 1 tsp. Real Salt
  • 1/2 cup [1 stick] organic pasture butter

Here’s How I do it:

  1. Combine the flour, salt and butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.  Store at room temperature up to 6 weeks; If requiring longer storage time then store in the freezer instead.

Thin White Sauce:

  1. Combine 1/4 cup Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix with 1 cup grass-fed organic whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat; Stir occasionally until slightly thickened.

Medium White Sauce:

  1. Combine 1/3 cup Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix with 1 cup grass-fed organic whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat; Stir quite often until thickened and bubbly, then cook for 2 more minutes.

Thick White Sauce:

  1. Combine 1/2 cup Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix with 1 cup grass-fed organic whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat; Stir constantly until thickened and bubbly, then cook for 2 more minutes.

Chicken Dinner Gravy:

  1. Combine 1/3 cup Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix with 1 cup Homemade Organic Chicken Stock in a saucepan over medium heat; Stir quite often until thickened and bubbly, then cook for 2 more minutes.

Beef Dinner Gravy:

  1. Combine 1/3 cup Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix with 1 cup Homemade Organic Beef Stock in a saucepan over medium heat; Stir quite often until thickened and bubbly, then cook for 2 more minutes.

Pork Dinner Gravy:

  1. Combine 1/3 cup Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix with 1 cup Homemade Organic Pork Stock in a saucepan over medium heat; Stir quite often until thickened and bubbly, then cook for 2 more minutes.

Lamb Dinner Gravy:

  1. Combine 1/3 cup Homemade Organic Sauce Starter Mix with 1 cup Homemade Organic Lamb Stock in a saucepan over medium heat; Stir quite often until thickened and bubbly, then cook for 2 more minutes.
