Homemade Organic Ginger Puree

I have slightly adapted this recipe from E-Curry.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 lb. organic ginger root, peeled
  • 1/2 cup unchlorinated and unfluoridated water (more if needed)

Here’s How I do it:

  • Roughly chop the peeled ginger root.
  • Place it into a blender along with the water.
  • Blend until well combined and pureed; Add additional water if the puree is too thick.
  • Freeze in 1/2 cup portions by placing into quarter-pint (the smallest “jelly jar”) Mason jars with plastic lids.  Leave 1/2″ headspace. Label with the contents and date before freezing.
  • This recipe yields approximately 1 cup of puree; This recipe can be doubled.

Homemade Organic Gingerbread Syrup

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Homemade Organic Vanilla Sugar
  • 1 cup unchlorinated and unfluoridated water
  • 1 tsp. unsulphured blackstrap molasses
  • 1 tsp. organic ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. organic ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. organic ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. organic ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. organic ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. Homemade Organic Vanilla Extract

Here’s How I do it:

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a chef’s saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring to mix well.
  3. Allow to boil until the mixture lightly coats a spoon.  (This will take approximately 15-20 minutes.)
  4. If you’re unsure if your syrup has cooked long enough, take it off the heat and allow it to cool.  If it needs to cook longer, boil the liquid again.
  5. Store in a glass jar with tight fitting lid in the refrigerator.
  6. Enjoy!

Homemade Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice

Here’s what You’ll Need:

  • 5 Tbsp. organic ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. organic ground allspice
  • 2 tsp. organic ground cloves
  • 2 tsp. organic ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. organic ground ginger

Here’s How I do it:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid.
  2. Shake until well blended.
  3. Transfer into a spice jar.
  4. Enjoy!

Homemade Organic Sesame Ginger Vinaigrette Dressing

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1/4 cup organic rice vinegar
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp. organic cane sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. finely grated fresh organic ginger
  • 1/4 cup organic sesame oil
  • 1 tsp. Organic Nama Shoyu soy sauce
  • 1 pinch freshly-ground organic peppercorn blend

Here’s How I do it:

  1. Add all ingredients except sesame seeds into either a small mixing bowl, or a pint-and-a-half sized Mason jar.
  2. Using an immersion blender starting on low speed, mix until blended and increase the speed as necessary.
  3. Store in a glass Mason jar with tight fitting lid.
  4. Enjoy!

Homemade Organic Copycat Old Bay Seasoning

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 2 Tbsp. organic bay leaf powder
  • 2 Tbsp. organic celery salt
  • 1 Tbsp. organic dry mustard
  • 1 tsp.  organic ground peppercorn blend
  • 2 tsp. organic ground ginger
  • 2 tsp. organic sweet paprika (or organic smoked paprika is a great substitution)
  • 1-1/2 tsp. organic ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. organic ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. organic ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. organic crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. organic ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp. organic ground cinnamon

Here’s How I do it:

  1. Place all ingredients into a glass jar with tight-fitting lid.
  2. Shake until blended.
  3. Store in an old glass spice jar with tight fitting lid.
  4. Enjoy!
